The Baymont by Wyndham in Cave City, Kentucky is located right off Interstate 65. It’s about 10 miles from Mammoth Cave visitor center. Less than a mile from Dinosaur World. Kentucky Down Under is less than 5 miles.
Being so close to many of the local attractions puts Baymont by Wyndham in a great location. After all, location is what it is all about. With the Baymont by Wyndham Cave City you are in the perfect location.
Not only are you close to the area attractions. You are close to so many food options. You have big chains like McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Pizza Hut, KFC, Long John Silver’s, and even Cracker Barrel. Even local owned joints are within walking distance from Baymont.
Hotel

I stayed at the Baymont by Wyndham Cave City in August 2020. Right in the middle of the Co-vid Pandemic. So I am sure my experience will be different than someone who traveled before the world broke.
Now this isn’t a large fancy hotel. It cost me less than $70 a night. Now it wasn’t the cheapest in the area but it also wasn’t the most expensive. It was right in the middle.
The lobby was small so currently only one group could be in the lobby at a time. Face Mask are required at the moment in Kentucky and you needed one to enter. The staff member (young guy) was wearing his and was very friendly.
Check in was nice and quick. The common area looked clean. The pool however, is currently closed. It’s a small outdoor pool so I am not to sure why it was closed.

All the rooms are located outside. There is no main indoor hallway to travel through which is nice in the current environment. There must be around 50 rooms in total but I didn’t count so I couldn’t give you the exact number.
Baymont by Wyndham Cave City also offers a FREE breakfast. It’s not like it was in the past. No common area with bagels, muffins, waffle maker, and the stuff you would normally find at this type of place.

Instead you get a breakfast sack (brown paper bag). For the day I was there we got a granola bar (different kinds), and two small packs of donuts. While it’s no where near as good as they usually are. You still couldn’t beat it.
Room

I booked a queen bed hotel room. It was a little cheaper than the king room but only by a couple dollars. The room felt very large. Now for some reason I was given a handicap accessible room. That might be why this room felt much larger than normal.
The room overall was pretty nice. It looked very clean which is all you can ask for when your traveling right now in the current state of the world. It also had a microwave and mini fridge. The fridge wasn’t a surprise to me. The microwave was. I can’t remember the last hotel that wasn’t a suite or extended stay that had one.
The queen bed was okay. It was comfortable and I did get a good night of rest. It is more of the firm side which is how I like it but was still missing something that I just can’t put my finger on it. The pillows were too soft for my liking. But again overall the bed was comfortable and gave me a great night of rest. It helped after a long drive I can tell you that.

The bathroom was huge but that shouldn’t comes to a surprise. You could have a party in that bathroom it was that big. You won’t have any problems changing in there.
The water temperate in the shower ran a little on the hotter side. It was kind of hard to find the right balance for me. Also the water pressure wasn’t the greatest and I was not a fan of the shower head. It is the kind with the handle that you can take off and move around.
With the sink the water pressure was strong. You barely had to open it up for the water to come flying out. The temperate in the sink was also very easy to control unlike the shower. Not sure why that was.
The toilet didn’t sit too high or low to the ground. However, it didn’t pack much of a flushing power. That can sometimes be a bit of a problem after a long road trip. Just something to keep in mind.
The rest of the hotel room was good. A nice size flat screen tv with around 100 different channels. Much more than the tv we had at our hotel in Greensburg, PA. The desk and chair in the room was big and comfortable.
There were plenty of outlets to plug in anything you would need to. However, like most of the hotels I have reviewed and stayed in. There were no USB plugs. I am really just waiting for the day when that becomes standard.
Local Area

The immediate area is geared towards travelers. You will find many hotels, a gas station and plenty of different food options. I went to the Dog Pound to support a local business and I was not let down.
They had so many different styles of hot dogs to chose from it just blows you mind. It also helps that they are only $4 each. I decided on getting the Bull Dog. It’s a beef hot dog with roast beef, provolone cheese, and bacon. It was really good.
I also just loved the names of the different hot dogs they offered. I really wanted to try them all but of course I couldn’t do that. You won’t be able to get fries on the side but you can get nachos, potato salad or chips.
I highly suggest a stop off at this place if you will be visiting near by Mammoth Cave. If you want a unique but great tasting hot dog. The Dog Pound in Cave City, Kentucky is the place for you.

Now I am going to assume that the reason you are looking at hotels in this area is because you want to visit Mammoth Cave National Park. You are in luck. Baymont by Wyndham is a short drive to the national park.
You will also pass my other smaller attractions like Dinosaur World, Kentucky Action Park, Jesse James Riding Stables and many little shops. You will also be able to explore many other smaller caves in the area. After all, you are in cave country. I believe Kentucky is home to the most caves in the US.

Another great location attraction to check out is Kentucky Down Under. There is a small cave at this amazing attractions. But that is not the draw here. The main thing you will want to experience is the kangaroos. You can feed and pet them. It is something you will WANT to do.
If you are planning a trip to visit Mammoth Cave National Park or any of the other caves in the area. A stay at Baymont by Wyndham is the perfect fit. The hotel and room was clean and the staff were friendly.
Don’t forget this place also offered a free breakfast. It wasn’t the most amazing breakfast but it was included with your stay and you can’t say that about many places right now.
It’s also in a great location close to local restaurants, gas stations, and attractions. If you are planning a trip to this area of Kentucky. Do yourself a favor and check out Baymont by Wyndham Cave City.
