Travelodge by Wyndham Florida City is the perfect hotel if you are planning a visit to the Florida Everglades, Coral Castle, or the Florida Keys. Located right on U.S Route 1 which is the Overseas Highway when you get down to Key Largo. It is in the right spot for all your southern Florida adventures.

Everglades National Park is about 20 minutes away. Coral Castle in Homestead is 15 minutes away. Key Largo is only 40 minutes away and Key West is less than three hours away. You can’t ask for a better location to some of the area’s best attractions and at a reasonable price.

Room

The rooms at Travelodge by Wyndham won’t blow you away most of the time. However, this room was a great size and had flooring and not carpet. It is nice to see most places getting ride of having carpet in the rooms.
You can book one of two different room types. They have rooms with one King bed or two double beds. Even with the double beds the room didn’t feel small or cramped. There was plenty of room for two people. It would even be big enough for a family of four.
The room had everything you would need to be comfortable while you stay. It has a microwave, mini fridge, TV, and a couple outlets. I did found the fridge and microwave to be in an odd spot. However, I don’t think it really takes away from the room.

The only thing I would say that kind of takes away from the room is the lack of open outlets. There are a couple but if everyone needs to plug in and charge a phone or tablet. You might be lacking available outlets.
The beds were comfortable enough. They won’t make it feel like you are sleeping on a cloud but they also won’t make it feel like you slept on a rock. It would be good for a couple nights if you stayed there.

The bathroom wasn’t the largest in the world. However, you could open and close the door without hitting the toilet. The place I stayed at before staying here had that problem. I was glad this one didn’t.

Now the flushing power of the toilet was on point. You won’t have any problems with flushing the toilet. The water pressure in the shower and sink were great too. You won’t have to worry about a little trickle. As for the water temperature. Well, it was very easy for me to find the perfect temp for my shower.
Overall, I was very happy with our room and I think you would be too if you booked a stay at Travelodge by Wyndham Florida City.
Hotel Overview
Sure you can find hotels with much better amenities. Bigger pools, actual breakfast, better layouts. However, you probably won’t find them in this price range and as close to all the local attractions as this one is.
Sadly, due to Covid they were not serving a hot breakfast. You could however, go to the lobby in the morning and pick up a bag breakfast. The staff at the front desk were also very friendly and helpful.

This place is actually pretty big. It is just one story high and very spread out. I did like that we didn’t have a problem parking right in front of our door. It made for packing and unpacking the car a breeze. However, if you wanted to go to the pool or get ice you had a bit of a walk depending on where your room was.
Now the pool wasn’t big at all. It was a little on the small size but I didn’t see too many people using it. The pool is also heated so if you go in the winter months you should still be able to swim without being too cold. Of course, you will have to deal with the colder weather when you get out of the water.
Local Attractions
Like I said in the beginning of this review. The great thing about Travelodge by Wyndham Florida City is it’s location compared to the local attractions. There are so many great things to see that are near by. A bunch are within a half hour or so like Coral Castle.

Coral Castle is an outdoor garden where one man, Ed Leedskalnin, secretly carved over 1,000 tons of coral rock with no help or machinery. To this day no one is sure how he moved the large pieces of coral. He would do most of his work at night. When asked how it did it. He would only say that he knew the secrets to how the pyramids were built.
Everglades National Park is another attraction that is fairly close to Travelodge by Wyndham. This is a great place to go out and explore some of the things that makes Florida such a unique place. Go and enjoy the wonderful wildlife of south Florida.

Or try and find some gators. Just don’t get too close. You never know what they might do. Anhinga Trail is a great place to take a stroll in the Everglades. It has an elevated walkway going around some of the water ways. Just stop, look down and see what you might find. It could be a turtle, fish, or maybe even a gator. You just never know until you go.
Perhaps the best localish attraction would have to be the Florida Keys. Key West is less than a three hour drive from Travelodge. You can wake up before sunrise and start heading down catching the sun rise over the Atlantic. Have breakfast, lunch, and dinner at one of the many amazing places along the Overseas Highway.

You will also find plenty of amazing locations to pull over and take in the wonderful views. One thing to note and it is very important for a select few people. There are a lot of bridges that you will have to go over from Travelodge by Wyndham Florida City to Key West. I mean a lot of bridges. One is called the seven mile bridge.
If you have a fear of going over bridges. A trip to Key West wouldn’t be for you. However, if you can get over that fear it would be worth it.
Travelodge by Wyndham Florida City is a great place to spend the night or a couple. With it being close to so many great attractions, it just can’t be beat. Plus the rooms are a nice size for a couple or family of four. You really can’t beat staying here when visiting south Florida.
