Where do you even start when talking about what rides to use the FastPass + on at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. As of right now they are still lacking in the ride department. However, saying that doesn’t mean the rides are terrible.

Hollywood Studios has arguable some of the best rides in all 4 parks. This park is home to Tower of Terror, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Star Tours (personal favorite) and Slinky Dog Dash. The problem with having some of the best rides in all of Walt Disney World means the wait times can be quite long since most guest are waiting in line for the same rides you want to enjoy.
Anyway lets get on with our guide to Hollywood Studios FastPass +.

What is it?
The FastPass + is Disney’s way of securing attraction times at select Walt Disney World Theme Parks. You can choose up to 3 rides to select ride times (1 hour blocks) for a shorter wait time. Look for the line that says FastPass + Entrance.
Once you use your 3 FP up you may select additional reservations one at a time. Hollywood Studios uses the 2 tier system just like EPCOT and Animal Kingdom. For more information about the FastPass + system click here.

Guide
Hollywood Studios currently only has SIX rides and 7 shows. Later on this year and early next year a few more rides will open. Two in Galaxy’s Edge (Star Wars Land- OPENING AUG) and one in the main park (Mickey & Minnie’s runaway railroad).
I would suspect that the runaway railroad will get a fastpass + option when it opens in spring 2020. We already know that Smugglers Run opening in late August 2019 WILL NOT have a fastpass + option.

Now don’t forget that you can pick ONE tier 1 option (Slinky Dog Dash, Toy Story Mania, or Alien Swirling Saucers NEW ROCK N ROLLERCOASTER AND TOWER OF TERROR) and two of any of the other attractions.
Disney World Park Hopper Ticket – Buy 4 Days & get 5th Day Free!Thrill Seekers/One and Done
- Slinky Dog Dash (FIRST PICK)
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (SECOND PICK)
- Tower of Terror (THIRD PICK)
- Star Tours 2ND FASTPASS
- ANY SHOW 3RD FASTPASS

As you would guess it, grab a fastpass for Slinky Dog Dash. This fastpass + goes quick. If you are unable to get Slinky Dog Dash I would go for Rock ‘n’ rollercoaster (unless you don’t mind doing the single rider line) or Tower of Terror. I would than grab Star Tours (I suspect this will be a little harder to get since this is currently the only “ride” for tier 2). Than just grab any show you can get. Make sure you get an early show time. This way once your two ride FastPass are done you can try to get another tier one or hop over to another park. (read about the park hopper here)
Rock ‘n” Roller Coaster is currently the only roller coaster in Walt Disney World that has loops. With Tower of Terror you could ride it 20 times in a row and not get the same drop sequence on any of your rides. I have both of these ride videos and more in this post here.
If you are a thrill seeker or if this will be your only visit ever these are the rides I would use my fastpass + for. I would definitely ride Toy Story Mania and Alien Swirling Saucers as well but I just wouldn’t use a FP to start off with. DO, DO, DO try to get a 4th or 5th FP with one of them. Chances are good that they will be all gone though. With the updated FastPass tiers trying to get all the rides done in one day with as little of a wait as possible might be hard.
Family List
- Toy Story Mania
- Star Tours
- Fantasmic
If you are going with small children it might be best to just use a FastPass for Toy Story Mania since the ride is available for any height and than pick 2 early shows so you can reserve a 4th FP at a different park.
If you really want/ have to see Fantasmic, I would use your 3rd FP+ on securing a spot. The stand by line for the show gets very long and people usually start lining up 1 hour or more before the show starts. Check the times to see when the show starts and see if there will be 1 or 2 shows that night.

I still see Hollywood Studios only being a half day park. Once Galaxy’s Edge arrives that may change. Mainly because you will be spending half your day standing in line for the only ride or trying to get any merchandise or food within Galaxy’s Edge.
Still not sure if I am lucky or unlucky. I booked my Disney Trip this year for August and our last day will be the 21st (Galaxy’s Edge opens Aug 29th.). I know the lines will be like something never seen before and probably not ever again. But I really do just want to see the land.
Toy Story Land is amazing with all the details and hidden secrets. Just wish it had a little more shade. The summer sun in Florida can be brutal but here are some tips on beating the heat in Orlando.
If you found this helpful check out my other guides on the rides and Fastpass + available at Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, and Magic Kingdom. Is there are ride that is a must ride at Hollywood Studios? Let me know.
