Epcot FastPass + Rides and Guide

Epcot was the second park to be added to Walt Disney World. Originally intended to be an Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow before Walt Disney’s death. After his death the city idea was scrapped. After some time imagineers pushed together a futuristic model with one of an International World’s Fair theme and the new EPCOT was born.

If you ride the people mover in Magic Kingdom you can see Walt Disney’s original idea for EPCOT. The park was opened in October of 1982. EPCOT is still adding rides to this day.

What is it?

The FastPass + is Disney’s way of securing attraction times at select Walt Disney World Theme Parks. You can choose up to 3 rides to select ride times (1 hour blocks) for a shorter wait time. Look for the line that says FastPass + Entrance.

Once you use your 3 FP up you may select additional reservations one at a time. For more information about the FastPass + system click here.

The Choices

Now EPCOT is personally my favorite park. Not for the rides but for all the counties. Don’t get me wrong they do have some great rides. The only problem is the 2 best rides are on the same tier (Soarin’ and Test Track). The frozen ride is also among the same tier. All the other rides the park has don’t usually have a wait longer than 45 minutes.

So when booking FP+ go for Test Track for your Tier 1 unless you are with your kids who love Frozen. Frozen Ever After usually has the longest wait times in EPCOT. The wait times for Soarin’ have gone down a lot since they added theaters.

Once you get your Tier 1 pick I usually go with The Seas with Nemo and Friends or Living with the land. I pick the earliest time I could get. Than I finish it off with Spaceship Earth. If you do it right you can have all three FP+ done by 2pm.

Than you can book another Tier 1 if available or choose a ride for any other park.

Some rides I would not use a FastPass+ for at EPCOT include: Turtle Talk, Journey into Imagination, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth. While Turtle Talk and Journey into Imagination are fantastic attractions. They rarely have long wait times.

Illuminations: Reflections of Earth is a great night time show. While some areas around the World Showcase Lagoon are better than others. It’s not worth wasting a Tier 1 FP+ for it. You can get a decent view all around. If you are going in 2019 be sure to check it out. The show will soon be replaced.

Do you have any other suggestions for using your FastPass+ at EPCOT? Do you think Test Track is a better use for a Tier 1 FP+ than Soarin’ or Frozen? Let me know what you think. Also check out my FastPass+ guides for Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios.
