If you are reading this I am sure you’ve been gathering up all the information you can about the FastPass + system in Walt Disney World. You probably come across a lot of useful tips, tricks, and hacks and what you SHOULD do. But not many people tell you what you SHOULDN’T do.
After all it is your vacation, so do what you like. But maybe this is your first time ever going to Disney World. Maybe you have been there before but you remember the paper FastPass system they had years ago. Or maybe you would just stand in line for 3 hours for the newest ride.
Here I am going to give you a complete guide to the Don’ts of the Disney World FastPass +. Again this is your vacation so do what you like. Follow all my suggestions or none of them. This is merely to help you along with all the planning.

Don’t use your FP+ for the following rides or shows
- Barnstormer (MK)
- It’s a small world (MK)
- It’s tough to be a bug (AK)(Show)
- Journey into Imagination with Figment (EPCOT)
- Living with the Land (EPCOT)
- The Magic Carpets of Aladdin (MK)
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic (MK)(Show)
- Monsters, INC. Laugh Floor (MK)(Show)
- Muppet*Vision 3D (HS)(Show)
- The Seas with Nemo and Friends (EPCOT)
- Turtle Talk with Crush (EPCOT)(Show)
- Beauty and the Beast Live stage show (HS)(Show)
- Disney JR Dance Party (HS)(Show)
- Finding Nemo – The Musical (AK)(Show)
- Frozen Sing Along (HS)(Show)
- IllumiNations (EPCOT)(Fireworks)
- Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular! (HS)(Show)
- Rivers of Light (AK)(Nighttime show)
- UP! A great bird adventure (AK)(Show)
- Voyage of the Little Mermaid (HS)(Show)
They are all great rides or shows. However, you could put your FastPass+ to better use. Most of those rides have wait times under 30 minutes all day. IllumiNations offers great views all around the World Showcase.
Don’t use FP+ for shows. They only have certain times and the theaters are big enough to include all guest waiting for that show time on most days.
Don’t book all your FP+ late in the day. If you book all of them at later times there is a good chance you won’t be able to book more for that day (read more about that here).
Don’t expect to get Flight of Passage the day or time you want it.
Don’t forget to book your FP+. It really is amazing the amount of people that do not use this system in advance.
Don’t be late for your FastPass. You do get a little bit of a wiggle room of about 5 minutes. There is nothing worse than really wanted to go on Splash Mountain on a hot day to only miss your FastPass time by 5 minutes and see an hour or more wait for that ride.
Don’t be afraid to cancel a FP+ and swap in another. It has happened to us all. We decided to go back to the pool for a little bit or watch a show and we know we are going to miss our 3:30-4:30pm Peter Pan FP+ time. Just go on the app and modify your reservation. Maybe you can get Peter Pan for 6 or maybe you see another Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
For parks like Hollywood Studios or EPCOT Don’t be afraid to book “lesser” rides at park opening. Book living with the land at 9am so by 3pm you can book a new FP+ at a different park. Who knows maybe Flight of Passage or Slinky Dog will open up and become available.
Don’t forget to book 60 days out if staying on property or 30 days out if staying off site.
Don’t use a FP+ for firework viewing locations. Since fireworks go off at the end of the night your 3rd FP+ is being held up all day. You’ll never be able to get a 4th, 5th or even 6th FP+ since your last one is being held “hostage”.
BONUS: If a ride you have a FP+ for has a short wait time. Ride the stand by line first than go back in and use your FP+.
There are 10 Don’ts when using the FastPass + system at Walt Disney World. The biggest thing to take away from this list? DON’T forget to use the FastPass System at WDW. It can save you so much time if you use it correctly.
