I had the pleasure this past weekend of going to the season pass members preview at Sesame Place, located in Langhorne, PA. Sesame Place is a theme park designed around the TV show Sesame Street. It is also the only park in the world fully themed to Sesame Street and is one of the 12 theme parks owned by SeaWorld Entertainment.
Being that it was still April, only about have of the park was open. All of the rides were open and some extras that they put in while the water rides are closed.
As you would expect from a theme park in the northeast, all of the water rides were closed today. They don’t usually open till Memorial Day Weekend. But don’t worry there is still plenty to do.
This park is geared towards younger kids with a few “bigger” kid rides thrown in. They have two small roller coasters. Vapor Trail which is a steel roller coaster (no loops) and a wooden one called Oscar’s Wacky Taxi.
Vapor Trail is the perfect first time roller coaster for small kids.
Vapor Trail doesn’t go very high or fast. Oscar’s Wacky Taxi on the other hand can be quite bumpy. This one doesn’t get very high or fast either. But it can be a very wacky ride.
Other rides include a carousel, flying swings, tea cups and many other familiar rides. They really are perfect for young kids between the ages of 4-7. You can find the full list of rides here along with the height requirements. For most rides your kid would just need to be taller than 42″ to ride alone.
Once you get hungry be sure to stop at one of the many food locations. They have food trucks, stands and sit down “quick” service locations. You can get burgers, chicken fingers, wraps and salads. They even now have a pizza and pasta buffet.
Of course they have a gift shop. Besides Mr Hooper’s emporium (largest gift shop) they also have 3 other locations for all your sesame street gear. In the summer time they also sell anything you may have forgotten for all the water fun. Including towels, flip flops and even sun screen.
This year (2019) might just be the perfect year to visit. Sesame Street is celebrating 50 years and counting, and Sesame Place is showing off their all new sesame street neighborhood.
If you have never been here before and have younger kids give this place a try. You can easily kill a few hours here watching the different stage shows and parade. While also riding a ton of rides. You can even ride them multiple times as the waits usually are only 10 minutes at most (even in the summer).
The food isn’t anything to write home about but it does hit the spot if you are hungry. You can pack your own lunch and leave it in the car and go out to eat it. Just be sure to get a stamp so you can reenter.
