Now I wanted to write this post about the Doubletree hotel by Hilton in McLean Tysons, VA, because of the wonderful time my daughter and I had here. I am not being paid to write this nor did I receive a free room from Hilton or any other site.
We did however, get a room upgrade (larger bed) and 2 free cookies. I’ve heard every guest that checks into a Doubletree gets the cookies, but I’m not sure. If you know if this is true let me know in the comments below.

We drove here from nearby Washington DC. It was only about a 25 minute drive. All in all not bad. The reason I chose this location was because of the closeness to the city and local stores and restaurants.
Trying to locate a good “cheap” hotel in and around DC can be tricky. This hotel was under $90 a night. We stayed in the beginning of April on a Saturday night right during the National Cherry Blossom Festival (check out my blog on the Festival). You can’t beat that price in my book.
We arrived at the hotel to find plenty of parking and a nice clean and secure feeling area. There is also a parking garage located right next door. Not sure if you had to pay to park or not in there. Either way there is plenty of parking located around the hotel itself. Check in only took a minute or two. Then we were off to the elevator and down the long hallway to our room.

The room was much bigger than I was expecting. It was nice and clean and there were two bottles of water waiting for us.
The room had everything you would expect. A queen sized bed. A comfy couch. A huge dresser and desk with what I believe was a 42 inch flat screen tv. It also had the typical hotel coffee marker (which made decent coffee)

The bed was nice and comfortable. Just like Goldilocks the bed was not too hard, not too soft, just right. Both sides had nightstands with lamps and little night lights. Bonus: each side also had an outlet and USB port.

It was nice to find that this hotel did some upgrades. I’ve been to a few hotels in the past year where they didn’t have any USB ports in the outlets. Some even still had the old tube TVs.
The only thing I did not like was the bathroom. For myself, it was perfect. Having a 7 year old with me made it not so perfect. They didn’t have a tub, only a stand up shower.
But the water pressure was outstanding. The easy of use for the shower was also top of the line. There was no guess work on how to turn it on. Or which was was hotter or colder water. It was all straight forward. Again I have been to a few places where you would need a college degree to figure out the shower.
Now for the main reason I chose this location was for the pool. I have a 7 year old daughter and she loves to swim. Sometimes it can be challenging to find an affordable hotel with an Indoor pool close to a major city.

The pool was nice and big. The water was warm and refreshing (it was the beginning of April after all). The pool started at about 3 feet deep and went all the way to 8 feet deep. From 3 to about 5 feet there was a nice steady decline. Once you get past 5 feet and head towards the 8 foot area it declines pretty quickly.
They also have a nice siting area located next to the pool. There are a bunch of tables and chairs and they even have a fire pit and water fountain. For those of you that like to workout while you are away, you are in luck. They also have a small gym also located next to the indoor pool.
I must say that I will be staying here on my next visit to DC. I think I will even try breakfast or dinner in the restaurant located in the hotel. So I would personal recommend this hotel. Simple because of it’s cleanliness and close proximity to Washington DC.
I’ve included a screen shot of the immediate area around the hotel for you to view. There is a large mall less than 5 minutes away by car. I hope this review was helpful.

Again I would like to say that I was not being paid or compensated in anyway by anyone to write this review. I would like to do more of these in the future and know that I have to start somewhere. If you have any questions please leave a comment down below or visit the contact page.
