Hyner View State Park and Hyner Run State Park are both located in Clinton County, in north central Pennsylvania. The area also falls into the area known as the PA Wilds and the 280,000 acres Sproul State Forest surrounds both of these amazing state parks.
After one visit to the area you will understand why this area is considered a must see spot in PA. From the vast forest to the amazing view. You will be left in awe after a visit here. Anytime of year is a great time to visit. However, in Winter the road leading up to Hyner View isn’t maintained.
Hyner Run State Park

Hyner Run State Park is located off of PA route 120. The park is 180 acres and offers many things for visitors to do. In the summer months there is a public pool for you to enjoy.
If you enjoy camping there are 30 sites available with many of them having electricity. The sites also come with a fire ring, picnic table, and level pad. You will also find flushing toilets and showers in the campground.
The entire park is surrounded by the Sproul State Forest which offers many outdoor activities for you to do. You can go hunting, fishing, hiking, and snowmobiling in both the State Forest and in Hyner Run State Park.
The Donut Hole Trail, which is 90 miles long has a small section that runs through the park. The Long Fork Trail is the only other hiking trail in the park. This is a shorter hike that is only a total of 4.1 miles.
Hyner Run is a great place to spend the night or day if you are trying to escape and get out into nature. There is plenty for any outdoor lover to do. Plus one of the best overlooks in a short drive away.
Hyner View State Park

Hyner View State Park is located right off of PA route 120. It is located right next to Hyner Run State Park. This park is only 6 acres and is one of the smallest Pennsylvania state parks. However, don’t let that fool you. This place offers an amazing view and is easy for anyone to reach.
Pennsylvania is full of many great overlooks. Some of the best views require you to be in decent shape to hike to them. You won’t have to worry about that here.
Hyner View State Park is also the only State Park (that I am aware of) that you can go hang gliding in. You do need to get DCNR authorization before doing it however.
While neither one of these state parks are huge they both are great places to check out. Check out Hyner View in the Fall for some amazing fall colors. Or visit both in the summer months and take a quick swim at the pool in Hyner Run.
If you only have an hour to spend, I would take that time and visit Hyner View. You will not be disappointed. You might even go well past your hour time limit.
