Where to go in 2024

It is almost that time to start thinking about where you want to go in 2024. There are so many amazing places are out there for you to explore.  Anything from places near by to places a little further away.

2024 is sure to be a great year to get outdoors and explore the world around you. If you are stumped on where you should go, we put together a little list of some places for you to check.

I believe that this coming year will be another great year to get outside and explore the world around you. Go camping in a tent or cabin for the weekend. Visit a local city and check out main street. Or visit the closest national park to you. The possibilities are endless. All you have to do is decide on the when and where.

April Total Solar Eclipse

If you missed the last Solar Eclipse in October you are in luck. Another Solar Eclipse can be seen in the US in 2024. This time it will be coming through the east coast.

The path will take it through Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, and Maine. Buffalo, Erie, Cleveland, Little Rock, Dallas, and Austin are just some cities where the sun will be completely blocked by the moon.

Houston, Chicago, Nashville, Pittsburgh, and Ottawa, Canada will see at least 94% of the sun blocked. Even cities like New York City, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, DC, and Kansas City will see at least 85% of the sun covered. Millions of people in the US will be within the path of totality. Even more will be within 200 miles.

On April 8th, 2024 make sure you have your viewing plans in place at least a couple days before that. Plus get your Solar Eclipse Glass now. You can click on our link here to purchase a pair off of Amazon (affiliate link) now. Don’t wait till the last moment to get them.

Glacier National Park

Every year I have listed Glacier National Park as a place to visit. Originally, it was said that all the glaciers would disappear by 2020. Of course, that date has passed and the glaciers are still there but they are shrinking.

Some people now claim that all the glaciers will be gone by 2030. In reality no one really knows when they will be gone (if ever). Now there are placards that read “ When they will completely disappear, however, depends on how and when we act” and another that says “Some glaciers melt faster than others, but one thing is consistent: the glaciers in the park are shrinking”.

For me Glacier National Park is on my bucket list, along with visiting all of the National Parks.

National Parks

Any year is a great time to visit the National Parks in the US. Some of us are lucky and we have at least one National Park within an hour drive. Others have a much longer drive. Either way, you will want to visit them this year.

From the big and popular ones like Yellowstone, Zion, Great Smoky Mountains, or Acadia. To the smaller or more remote ones like Gateway Arch, Voyageurs, Dry Tortugas, or Denali. Each National Park has something to offer everyone.

Go for a hike, camp for the night, or take pictures of endless sights. If there is something you would like to do, chances are one of the 63 National Parks has what you are looking for.

Is there a National Park nearby where you live? If so, go explore the things that only the locals know about.

New England

Six states (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont) make up New England. No matter what time of year it is, there is something interesting and unique to see and do. From the majestic coast to the towering mountains. The scenery of New England is amazing.

The many cities and towns are wonderful too! Boston, the biggest city in New England and has a lot to do all year round. Catch a ball game in the spring and summer. Explore the snow covered city in winter. Or check out the Freedom Trail for beers tour.

If you like things that are a little spookier be sure to check out Salem. It doesn’t have to be October to see a witch trial or learn about them. Plus outside of Halloween time the crowds are much lower.

Perhaps the best time to visit New England is in the fall. The changing leaves offer some epic scenery to behold. Take a drive along Kancamagus Highway in New Hampshire or route 100 in Vermont. Acadia National Park in Maine is another fantastic spot to see beautiful fall colors.

Stay Local

2024 might be a great year to explore what is nearby. Go and visit the local parks that you might have never been to before. Or take a little drive to the nearest city or town and see what they have to offer.

Visit that area that is full of small mom and pop type stores. Or check out the local fair when it comes to town. While we all feel that our town is “boring”. When you really start to look around you will see there are a ton of unique things to do.

Grab the rod and fish along the creek. Grab a beer at the local bar and shoot a game or two of pool. Or just grab the bike and ride around town.

2024 looks to be another fun and exciting year. From the April Total Solar Eclipse to the 2024 November US Elections. It is going to be an interesting year.

How you spend it is up to you. Hopefully we have given you some ideas to check out. I plan on spending some more nights camping in PA State Parks all year. Taking a cruise in the summer and possibly hitting up New England in the Fall.
