Where to go in 2022

Before you know it 2021 will be over and we will be welcoming 2022. Now is a great time to start planning you 2022 adventures. We are still dealing with Covid and who knows what are adventures will look like for the coming year.

It will probably be much of the same that we have all been dealing with for the past two years. Should that stop us from traveling and living life? Maybe a little but doesn’t mean we still can’t visit some amazing places.

We compiled a list of some of the best destinations to visit in 2022. Some places might be crowded. Others could be welcoming low crowds. Some are even celebrating major mile stones. So let’s take a look at places you should look at visiting in 2022

Utah

I am sure many of you wouldn’t look a the map and think Utah is the place to visit. Some of you might already know why Utah is on this list. Utah is home to not one but FIVE National Parks. There is no better way to spent some time away from work and home than spending time in the great outdoors.

Utah is a beautiful state. It is full of amazing towns and cities that are worth a visit. Plus like we said it is home to five National Parks. Each one is special in it’s own way.

Zion National Park is a short drive from Las Vegas. If you don’t mind driving you can see some of Zion during a day trip from Sin City. However, you might just want to spend a little more time. Arches is another popular location.

Arches National Park is breathtaking. The hike out to Delicate Arch (the parks most recognizable arch) is a little difficult but well worth it. Of course, you could just stay in the car and see all the beautiful views on Arches Scenic Drive. Either way you will not be disappointed.

Are you looking for low crowds in 2022? Capitol Reef National Park could be the place for you. It is known as one of Utah’s best kept secrets. Take a visit out and you will see why. Plus you won’t have to compete with a lot of other visitors.

Canyonlands National Park is a most see National Park. If you are trying to avoid the crowds at the Grand Canyon you should pay this national park a visit. You might even say that the views and overall look and feel is better than the Grand Canyon.

Bryce Canyon is the final National Park in Utah. Park the car and look out into the vast landscape. Or take a closer look and hike around. Either way you won’t be let down.

Utah is a beautiful place to visit and everyone should spend at least a little time here. I would suggest taking at least a week to visit all five national parks. Either grab a hotel room or camp out under the stars.

If you love looking up at the night sky you will love visiting Utah. With so little light pollution you can see a million stars at night. More than you can see in any city.

For the best time it all depends on you. Winter will see snow and a lot of roads closed. Summers are hot and you better remember to pack extra water. Spring and fall are the best times to visit. Most of the roads are up plus the temperate is nice. Not too hot or cold and the crowds are lower since most kids are still in sky during those times.

Boston

The city of Boston turns 200 in 2022. It was incorporated as a city on March 19, 1822. The area was settled in 1625. But it didn’t officially become a city until 1822. Almost 200 years later.

The Freedom Trail is a must for anyone who loves American History. Fans of TV flock to Cheers. Foodies will love Alma Gaucha Prime Brazilian Steakhouse and one of the many craft breweries.

Get to the streets and walk around town. Beauty, history, and amazing people await you at every turn. Even if you are not a fan of baseball a stop at Fenway Park is a must. It is one of America’s most historic baseball parks.

Glacier National Park

If things don’t change we don’t know how much longer we can enjoy this National Park for. Originally due to warming it was expect that the glaciers would all be gone by 2020. However, they now estimate that they will be gone by 2030.

So that gives us 8 more years to enjoy the glaciers at this National Park before they are all gone. Now that’s a reason to visit in 2022 since as the years go on the glaciers will get smaller and smaller before they disappear.

Besides seeing glaciers you have plenty of other wonderful sights to see. The park is full of amazing lakes, spectacular waterfalls, towering mountains, and abundant wildlife. Glacier National Park is also a Dark Sky Park. You have very little to no light pollution making it a great place to view the night sky.

Head outdoors

With thousand of National Parks, Local Parks, Woods, Forest, Fields, and more. 2022 is another great year to get outside and explore all around you. Go out on a long hike.

Take a weekend and camp in the woods. Rent a kayak and cruise down the river or around the bay. Take in the sunrise on a cool summer morning. You start at a local or county park.

Or you can jump in the car and take a road trip to the nearest National Park. If you live in PA, NJ, or NY. You could check out the Delaware Water Gap. There is a good chance that might become the newest National Park in a few years. With all the waterfalls, trials, and stunning scenery. It is amazing that it’s not one already.

Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive

For those of you on the east coast looking for an epic road trip with stunning views and amazing hiking trials. The Skyline Drive in Virginia and Blue Ridge Parkway in Virginia and North Carolina is calling your name. With hundreds of miles to drive it will take you a couple of days to drive the whole thing and stop at every overlook.

While it would take some time. It would be well worth the time and effort to do it. You can see for miles upon miles at the many overlooks. This makes them the perfect spots to view sunrise or sunset.

Plus don’t skip out on driving it at night. Yes you have to watch out for wildlife. However, the amount of stars you can see in the sky is amazing. It truly is breathtaking. Just remember to bring a sweatshirt or something warm. Even in the summer it is a lot cooler on the mountain tops than in the valleys below.

Universal Orlando

The Past couple of years have really gotten me to change my opinion on Universal Orlando. I am now an annual passholder and I don’t think I will be giving that up anytime soon. While it might not be as big as Walt Disney World.

You vacation here will be just as good if not better. The food is amazing. The rides are outstanding and the theming just keeps getting better.

If you are thinking of visiting a theme park in 2022. Do yourself a favor and look at Universal Orlando Resort. With two theme parks (Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure), one water park (Volcano Bay), and a shopping district (CityWalk). They have everything you are looking for when visiting a Florida theme park. Plus the prices are much better than their rival Disney.

Walt Disney World

Okay, this isn’t one I would suggest to visit this year. Sure Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom just turned 50 back in October of 2021. So if you really want to see the 50th celebrations than by all means go. I know I would normally suggest going to WDW any year.

However, the past couple of years it has really started going down. This was even before the Covid 19 pandemic. Prices keep increasing and the overall experiences is going down. Now it just seems like Disney is a cash grab. They don’t care about what guest think as long as they are spending money.

Now I love going to Walt Disney World. I’ve gone ever year since 2015 and I have seen the prices increasing and not getting thing more in return. Room rates keep going up for the same rooms. If you do go. You are better off staying at a hotel that is not owned by Disney. You can save a lot more money and basically get the same experience as someone paying more to stay at a Disney Hotel.

Sadly, I think 2022 will be very similar to 2021. Many places will still have restrictions in place and allowing a lower number of guest. However, that shouldn’t stop us from traveling. Just have to be smart about it.

Above are just some of the places you should consider visiting in the coming year. Don’t spend another year looking out your window. Get out there and explore and see what makes this country so great. So where are you planning on going in 2022? Let us know in the comments below.
